How are you going Green?

I always find it interesting the countless number of ways there are to protect the environment. There are always the obvious: take shorter showers, unplug electronics not in use, and recycle, but what intrigues me are the lengths some people go to do their part. A past work associate told me they drive twice a month 60 miles to farm country to get their eggs from an independent farmer in an effort to not support mass food production and all the harmful pollutants that go along with it. A friend of mine also rides his bike to work 2 days out of the week 7 miles each way! (thankfully there is a shower at his office).
So I am wondering, what do you do to protect the environment? What have you done or heard someone doing that is above the norm to be eco-friendly?

By driving 240 miles per month for 2 dozen eggs, your friends release almost a ton of CO2 a year. I'd say it's a bit steep. Maybe they could consider buying from a local Farmers Market.

That most certainly is a lot of CO2. I think I considered suggesting a Farmer's Market to them once but I then remembered how stubborn they are and would probably scoff at the suggestion.
Thanks for the feedback myukraine.
